Anyone using these? I am thinking of using a set as a supplement to my oem low beams mounted at 24" height. Currently I have PIAA 540's there but with no top cutoff they are incorrect use for the oncoming traffic and seems to scatter the light rather than focus it on the road regardless of adjustments.

Well I did this swap and have to say the 90mm's blow away the 540's for usable light. Currently they have H9's in there and I may try an aftermarket HID upgrade.

"HID kits" in halogen-bulb headlamps (any kit, any headlamp, any vehicle) do not work safely or effectively, which is why they are illegal. There's a big article on the subject (with links and documentation, etc.) here.

Actually these are a pretty good candidate for the conversion if you look here- http://faqlight.shopower.com/hella-90mm/ I never did the conversion as the H9's are pretty good and I need a lamp that can cycle on/off to supplement the lows so HID would not work well for this. IU am very aware of what Daniel Stern has to say on the subject, just wanted to mention these 90mm units are a good candidate being projectors to begin with.

Thank you Matt400 for posting that article. I too agree with you that those lamps are a good candidate. I also agree with you that the H9 bulbs do wonders for this lamp. The 90mm lamps are one of Hella's number one sellers.

I might want to try an amber cover like what is offered on the FF500's on theses lamps, any suggestion? I saw those here: www.myhellalights.com/halogen_lamps/Hella_500FF.html under accessories/spare parts

I know that the amber covers work pretty well for the 500 and 500FF lamps but as far as ones for the 90mm lamps I have not seen anything that would work. I guess you could purchase the ones for the 500FF and then just cut out what you need for the 90mm Lamps. Now that I think about it that might be a pretty cool idea. If you do ened up doing that please take some pictures and post them. I would love to see how it turned out.

Dose Y&B sell the amber covers? I don't see them listed.
